What’s New: Business Event: The Case for Inclusive Hiring

The Ontario Disability Employment Network (ODEN) is a professional network of employment service providers united to increase employment opportunities for people who have a disability. ODEN is sponsoring the event Business to Business – The case for inclusive hiring: Lessons learned and shared from one businessperson to another with Mark Wafer. This one-hour session including a live Q&A will be held on Tuesday June 14, 2022, at 9:00am ET.

Mark Wafer is an internationally recognized expert on the economics of inclusion, global government advisor, Chief Experience Officer of the Mark Wafer Centre for Excellence in Equity and Inclusion, and former multi-franchise owner of six successful Tim Hortons locations in Toronto. During his 25 years in the Tim Hortons franchise business Mark employed an average of forty-five people who have a disability among a staff of over 200, in all areas of operations including senior management. At any given time approximately 17% of his workforce identified as having a disability. Mark attributes his success and competitive edge to the inclusive hiring model that he used. Mark encourages business leaders to understand the value proposition hiring inclusively could mean to their business, how to be intentional in your efforts and how to do it well.
