What’s New: Just Ask! Be Different, Be Brave, Be You

“Each of us grows in our own way, so if you are curious about other kids, Just Ask!” This advice is a key theme in the children’s book titled Just Ask! Be Different, Be Brave, Be You by American Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and illustrated by award-winning artist Rafael Lopez.

This story is about friends planting a garden with many varieties of plants that make the garden amazing. This story relates the uniqueness of the garden to understanding the differences that makes every person unique. This book encourages young readers that when they’re curious about someone else, its okay to ask them questions.

The book is recommended for children 4 -7 years and has value as a conversation starter on inclusion and honouring people’s differences.

Just Ask! Be Different, Be Brave, Be You is available at most community and school libraries or can be purchased at independent bookstores including Blue Heron Books and Indigo
