Canada’s first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a time to reflect and advance the process of healing relations between indigenous and non-indigenous Canadians. The following organizations provide valuable resources for educators, corporations, and individuals to observe this day in a solemn and meaningful way.

The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation(NCTR) provides learning and dialogue where the truths of the residential school experience are honoured. There are an array of teaching resources including, residential school history and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. In addition, there are education presentations and resources for Truth and Reconciliation Week.

The Legacy of Hope Foundation(LHF) is a national, Indigenous-led, charitable organization that has been working to promote healing and Reconciliation in Canada over the last two decades. The LHF’s goal is to educate and raise awareness about the history and existing intergenerational impacts of the Residential School System (RSS) and subsequent Sixties Scoop (SS) on Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) Survivors, their descendants, and their communities. There are excellent resources featured on this website including videos and documents to download.
