What’s New: Project Inclusion

Project Inclusion is a series of five online learning modules for educators from kindergarten through Grade 12 that is digitally available in English and French. Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, with funding from the Ontario Ministry of Education has developed this resource. Learning modules consist of videos featuring individuals with lived-experience, presentations, and interactive activities. The companion facilitator guide includes key learning from each module and questions that can be used to promote discussion and reflection among learners. 

The learning modules areas of focus include:

Module One: Importance of Accessibility, Inclusion, and Participation

  • Ableism, stigma, child development, accessibility, and human rights legislation

Module Two: Promoting Accessibility and Inclusion

  • Supporting inclusion in conversation and group activities

  • Promoting friendship and belonging

  • Accessibility tools

Module Three: Enabling Engagement in Choices, Goals, and Plans

  • Fostering self-determination & engagement of students and families/guardians

Module Four: Participation Beyond Classroom and School Walls

  • Participation in health & wellness activities within and beyond school (e.g., recess, clubs, sports, field trips)

Module Five: (Preparing for) Life After High School

  • Supporting students with disabilities in experiential learning opportunities

  • Developing skills that prepare students for post-secondary education and training, meaningful employment, and leading full lives in the community.
