What’s New: Inclusive Chocolates!

I have always lived by the words of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz who once said, “All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.”

Canadian company, Purdy’s features several holiday gift products including a Braille Advent Calendar and box of chocolates for people who are blind or partially sighted. The box features braille orientation tabs, a braille chocolate legend and a QR code that brings users who are blind or partially sighted to an accessible screen reader version of the legend. The Braille Advent Calendar features tabs with Braille numbers that open to reveal miniature chocolates.

Purdy’s consulted with the blind and partially sighted community in the design of these products and as a result they “nailed it”. The initial run of the box in 2021 sold out online in a matter of hours and the Advent Calendar is headed to be a best seller.
