What’s New: Inclusive Leadership

“In today’s global workplace, diversity can benefit businesses and organizations. Inclusive leadership is important to leverage and motivate a diverse team with different viewpoints, ideas and perspectives.” These words are the opening statement of an article by the Indeed editorial team titled What Is Inclusive Leadership? Definition, Traits and Tips. 

The authors define inclusive leadership and explore the top traits of inclusive leaders including bias awareness, equality, active listening, curiosity, constructive feedback, effective communication, empathy and compassion, creativity, teamwork, and cultural knowledge.

One of helpful strategies in this article is a list of tips for demonstrating inclusive leadership including but not limited to:

  • Reflect on any biases to remain nonjudgmental.

  • Engage team members and motivate them to feel confident and comfortable giving input and feedback.

  • Provide team feedback to encourage team members to champion an inclusive workplace.
