What’s New: Tourism Accessibility In A New Light

The Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA) in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada is a not-for-profit organization that represents and supports business and community tourism interests throughout the Thompson Okanagan region.

TOTA has embarked on a journey to promote “Access & Inclusion” in all aspects of community and tourism experiences, products, and services in the Thompson Okanagan region. Some of the initiatives that TOTA has undertaken to achieve this goal include:

  • Providing accessible site visit consultations

  • Researching accessible travel best practices

  • Identifying existing accessible experiences, services & products in our region

  • Assisting in creating accessible content

  • Featuring Accessible and inclusive blogs on their consumer website

  • Building partnerships with accessible tour operators & providers and outdoor adaptive adventure organizations

TOTA has compiled tangible accessible tourism resources to help tourism companies offer inclusive experiences. One of the resources developed by TOTA is a video titled “Accessibility in a New Light”.
