What’s New: Volunteer Programs Advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
The Alliance of Museums recently posted an informative article entitled “How a New Era of Volunteer Programs Is Enhancing Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion” on their website. Author Elisa Kosarin suggests that advancing diversity and championing equity and inclusivity in volunteer programs is paramount.
Kosarin cites several leading volunteer professionals who have been successful in their efforts to advance diversity in their programs. She identifies three characteristics of successful inclusive volunteer programs: maintaining broad outreach; redefining measures of success; and accepting that advancing equity, diversity, accessibility and inclusion is a process. This article is a must-read for any leader responsible for volunteer services.
